Applied Nutrition are proud to fuel the boxers at the Fury camp, including the newly crowned heavyweight world champion Wladimir Klitschko.
This was one of the most highly anticipated fights in British boxing for a long time, with the up and coming Tyson Fury facing the heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko who has been so dominant for over 11 years. Boxing pundits were split over who they thought would win the fight. Would Tyson’s youth and ambition be the key to victory, or would Wladimir’s experience be too much for him on the day?
The fight turned out to be very different than most expected. Fury was extremely well prepared and executed a brilliant game plan to dethrone the champion. Although the overall punch output was quite low, it felt like a lot of pressure was being applied with Fury’s movement, and psychologically he was making the champion “gun-shy” as he seemed wary of what would be coming back if he threw his right hand.
At the end of the fight, the Fury camp looked confident that they had done enough to win, but taking place in Germany the outcome of these fights when in the hands of the judges is never certain. However a unanimous decision was announced with scores of 115-112 and 116-111 in favour of Tyson Fury.
“This is a dream come true. I worked so hard for this.”
“You know, it has been six months of every day in the gym for this. I just can’t believe that I got him.”
Tyson Fury is now the second Applied Nutrition fuelled boxer to win a World Championship in the last week following a win for Anthony Crolla with the lightweight WBA title. Tyson Fury now holds the heavyweight WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight world titles, and the world is his oyster in terms of who he will fight next. Deontay Wilder holds the WBC world title which seems like a good route for the champion. There is also the chance that big brother Vitali may once again come out of retirement to try and avenge Wladimir’s loss as he has done in the past.
Final congratulations to Tyson Fury and Anthony Crolla on their world title victories, and we’re sure that more Applied Nutrition fuelled athletes will be joining them in their success soon.
